There are stories too big to summarize and too sacred to own. Black music in America is one of them.

When I began building this section, I thought I could capture it through playlists and timelines. The deeper I went, the more humbled and undone I became. Black music is too vast, too varied, too essential to fit inside one small corner of a website. What follows isn’t an encyclopedia — it’s an invitation to listen, to recognize that the American soundtrack is, at its core, a Black creation, and to approach it with humility, gratitude, and respect.
